Poetry

Poetry was taken as the major discussion topic on this day.

The students spoke about their favourite poets and poetess.

Eveline Punnoose shared the lines of 'The Prelude'.  One of the finest works of William Wordsworth. The ancient English and Language was the major attraction of his work.

A beautiful 'bottoms-up' poem titled 'Pretty ugly' was presented by Yazhini of class 11th.  The poem projected dual meanings when read top to bottom (negative) an bottom to top (positive).  This was the special characteristic the poem possessed.

The title of the poem left the students in doubt.  Pretty and Ugly were two contradictory words in a simple sentence.

The title of the poem left the students in doubt.  These are called oxymorons.  It is a figure of  speech in which apparently  contradictory terms appear in conjunction.

Niveda read the quatrain (a stanza of four lines, especially one having alternate rhymes) called 'Risks' by Anais Nin.  It uses metaphors to express a tale of change after turmoil.
